Residential Services helps make community living and other residential
options available to individuals and families within Hocking County.
The county board, which does not directly operate any facilities, is
responsible for the planning and monitoring of all MRDD licensed
residential facilities in the county. Training and assistance is
provided by contract agencies which assist the individual to grow and
build upon areas of strength.
The person-centered design of programs
allows each individual to achieve as independent a lifestyle as
possible. For individuals currently residing in their homes, services
are provided through the Supported Living Program and Individual
Options Waivers. These programs seek to provide support and training to
individuals so they may continue to live in settings of their choice.
Available services are flexible and determined by the individual,
family, advocates, and/or staff.
Supported Living is not grounded in a concept of “readiness” or in a continuum of progressively less restrictive environments, but rather provides support and services so that individuals may continue to live where they choose. As with any program offered by the Hocking County Board of MRDD, specific eligibility criteria must be met before services can be forthcoming.
